Barometric pressure effects the sea level in the North Sea and hence the height of our tides. Whilst it is possible to accurately predict lunar activity , North Sea tides and consequently the broads, are subject to a number of additional outside influences:

Direction of the wind raises the water level on the shore to which it is blowing. Northerly winds hold back the ebb in the North Sea.

Storm surges affect both time and travel.

Weather patterns on the west coast or around Iceland can affect the passage of water out of the North Sea and hence our Broads tides.

Drainage from the marshes upriver is particularly noticeable where the rivers are bottlenecked as the Bure at Yarmouth or the Waveney at Beccles. The Upper Broads drain huge areas of land.

Add approximately 6 1/2 hours to low water times for Highwater predictions.
